IMPORTANT INFORMATION regarding materials:

For bronze alloys #280 Muntz Metal and #464 Naval Brass:

Dawson does not provide any field finishing service. Clear lacquer coatings and oxidized finishes shall be field applied by a professional finisher (such as The Lee Quigley Company or Stuart Dean). Please contact a professional finishing company for a separate price and to schedule the fieldwork immediately upon installation of any bronze product.

Uncoated brass surfaces oxidize rapidly and permanent damage may result if the material remains uncoated. Lacquer on exterior finishes typically breaks down at approximately 6 – 12 months (may vary depending on the climate or environmental conditions). Therefore, we highly recommend a regular maintenance / refinishing schedule for your product. A professional finisher will include removal of the existing coating, cleaning the metal, and applying a fresh coat of clear, protective lacquer.
